Participate in Banned Books Week!

Yeah, remember the classic scene in The Two Towers when this happened?

“Strider is too poor a name, son of Arathorn,” he said. “Wingfoot I name you. This deed of the three friends should be sung in many a hall. Forty leagues and five you have measured ere the fourth day is ended! Hardy is the race of Elendil! All hail Satan!” he cried, as they passed around the goat sacrifice and drank the blood of newborns.

Maybe they’re referring to Tom Bombadil?

 ^ My sister is awesome.

Oh yeah I remember THAT part.

These are awesome!

The English landscape at its finest—such as I saw this morning—possesses a quality that the landscapes of other nations, however more superficially dramatic, inevitably fail to possess. It is, I believe, a quality that will mark out the English landscape to any objective observer as the most deeply satisfying in the world, and this quality is probably best summed up by the term ‘greatness.’ … And yet what precisely is this greatness? … I would say that it is the very lack of obvious drama or spectacle that sets the beauty of our land apart. What is pertinent is the calmness of that beauty, its sense of restraint. It is as though the land knows of its own beauty, of its own greatness, and feels no need to shout it.
The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro

A House Made from Bookshelves Is So Much Better Than a House Made from E-Books

A house made from bookshelves also burns a lot faster than a house made from e-books.
